Department of Educational Assessment

The Department of Educational Assessment is active in two research fields.

Behavioral Assessment

Research is conducted on the assessment and diagnosis of developmentally delayed or disabled children/adultsCand on the mechanisms underlying the disabilities.

  1. Analysis of sensory/perceptual and learning/thought processes.
  2. Analysis of speech/language developmental processes.
  3. Development of assessment strategies of speech/language abilities.
  4. Analysis of motor skills.

Human Relations

Research is carried out on the assessment of human relations in the disabled.

  1. Development of mother]child interaction during play.
  2. Analysis of the functions of social interaction in cognitive development.
  3. Life]span study on peer interaction.

Department of Educational Treatment

The Department of Educational Treatment is engaged in research activities in four research fields.

Developmental Support

Research is conducted on educational treatment based on the developmental level of the person with disability.

  1. Development of early intervention curricula.
  2. Development of teaching methods to improve daily living and social skills.
  3. Life-span study and development of teaching methods on motor functions.
  4. Development of teaching methods to improve language/communication.

Clinical Psychology

Factors in the occurrence of organic or psychogenic problems are analyzed, and psychoenvironmental methods of therapy corresponding to those factors are developed.

  1. Developmental processes of early parent]child relationships.
  2. Research on the factors and mechanisms leading to organic and psychogenic disabilities.
  3. Development of strategies to support family relationships
  4. Social adjustment processes in preschools and schools.

EducationaI Technology for the Disabled

The effective application of technology to experimental and clinical educational assessment-treatment processes is carried out.

  1. Experimental studies of cognitive/language development and disorders.
  2. Technological and therapeutic studies on habilitation/rehabilitation of cognitive/language disorders.
  3. Technological approaches to the development of assessment strategies and educational programs
  4. Development of databases on educational assessment-treatment processes.
  5. Development of information network systems with schools and related organizations

Social Welfare for the Disabled

Basic and clinical research is conducted on social welfare and the educational system for the disabled.

  1. Community care system for the disabled.

  3. Educational programs and environmental adaptation in special classes and schools for the disabled.
  4. Adaptation of adults with disabilities in institutions and the community.
  5. Aging in the disabled.
