YNOTZ(Yunotsu) Nima County SHIMANE
Ynotz means HOT SPRING PORT in Japanese. So Ynotz town is faced on Nihon-kai(the sea of Japan), and has many mountains which height are about 500m around there.
There are silver mines near Ynoz which is called Iwami-Ginzan. Ynotz is also famous as earthenware producing area for a long time. During Edo period(1600-1868) Ynotz thrived primarily on the exportation of silver and eathenware. But now that has been abandoned, and the port is mainly used as a fishing port.


温泉津温泉
JR温泉津駅の北、谷筋に沿って細長く街区が構成されている。1000年以上も昔に発見されたとされる温泉地で、江戸中期から明治大正期にかけて湯治場としてかなりの賑いをみせた。今でも共同浴場の元湯と藤乃湯を中心に往時の雰囲気をとどめている。
1997年より温泉街区を対象に重要伝統的建造物郡保存地区選定のための調査が齋藤研究室（文化財保存学）を中心に実施されている。

Hot spring of Ynotz (Yunotsu Onsen)
Ynotz town is formed along the bottom of valley. It is said that hot spring is found more than 1,000 years ago. In 18-19 century Ynotz had prosperity as a hot spring town. And now many people arrive there for taking these baths. In the center of town there are two pubric baths with hot spring's water and several hotels which are reminisced about the prosperous days.
The Historic Town Survey on Ynotz is organized since 1997 by Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music. The field work, measured drawings, historical reports and photographs are prepared under the general direction of Prof. Hidetoshi SAITOH(Department of Conservation).
