I moved to Tokyo Gakugei University from the University of Tokyo in the 2023 academic year.

I am interested in deepening our understanding of rock structures found in the field and the relationship between these rock structures and natural scientific phenomena in the subduction zone, especially geophysical observations.

Currently, my research is focused on “the structure of upper mantle materials in subduction zones” and “their developmental processes and dynamics,” using a combination of the following approaches
1) Structural geological methods such as field geological surveys of metamorphic rocks including the upper mantle
2) Structural petrology and mineral physics using EBSD on natural samples
3) Petrological and mineralogical methods including EPMA and Raman spectroscopic analysis.
In addition to these research approaches
4) Structural seismological research such as seismic anisotropy calculations
We are also promoting research that integrates these research approaches with 4) structural seismological research such as seismic wave anisotropy calculations.

In addition to this, in the course of our research, Search for optimal analytical conditions for
・laboratory analyzers
・Programming for seismic anisotropy modeling
・Experimental petrological methods that can reproduce and understand the reaction and deformation processes of rock minerals by observing the microstructure of samples before and after experiments.
We would also like to approach the following areas.

We are also working to expand these research results to education, especially school education and science education.
Currently, I am focusing on research on rock mineral specimens, large-scale language models, and generative AI for the purpose of developing educational materials in the field of earth and planetary science for school education.
